When will large professional and small-hall boxing events return in the UK?

Boxing supporters and Sports fans have been unable to attend sporting venues all over England since the Government introduced its new lockdown restrictions in December.

Following a new announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson we should see the return to events from Monday May 17th . These events will be limited to 1000 spectators or 50 percent of the venues maximum capacity (whichever is less).

Larger outdoor seated venues such as football stadiums will be allowed up to 10'000 people or be a quarter full ( again whichever is less).

The British Board of Boxing control who oversee professional boxing in the UK were forced to shutdown all events throughout January due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. Following the governments new announcement they released the following statement.

"The British Boxing Board of Control will be resuming boxing tournaments under its jurisdiction in the middle of February.

"Dates and venues to be confirmed in due course."

The new rules and government guidelines means that the sport will have to adapt to ensure we can make a safe and consistent return to boxing and sporting events in the UK.
